Join us on Sunday for a fun hike up Mt. Passaconaway, a 4000-footer in the Whites which offers stunning views of the surrounding Sandwich Range.
Route: Dicey's Mill Train (Out and Back) 9 miles with 2900ft of elevation gain.
Prerequisites: We’ll keep a moderate/fast pace (1.8 - 2mph) with minimal breaks, so come prepared! Note that you will be hiking with a bigger/heavier backup than your typical summer hike. Ideally, you’ve done similar mileage or at least 6-8 miles at this pace in the last six months and have some winter hiking experience in the past. You should've also attended the past winter school safety lectures (Jan 2024 or Nov 2024) or have been a MITOC winter leader.
Please make sure you have a plan to acquire winter boots, microspikes, snowshoes, and an appropriately sized backpack and layers before you sign up for the trip.
Logistics: We will leave Cambridge/ Boston at 6:30 am (and stop at Hooksett for a quick break). There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Thursday, 6pm to discuss logistics, safety and rent personal and as well as group safety gear
If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile to show this.
