Join us Sunday on a winter hike to two of the 52-With-A-View peaks in NH: Jennings Peak and Sandwich Dome, with an additional view of Noon Peak! This is officially a winter trip, so to sign up, you must be a comfortable and experienced winter hiker, be familiar with layering in cold and wet conditions, and have attended the two mandatory winter safety lectures either in January 2024 or November 2024 (or have been a MITOC winter leader).
The forecast shows the temperature at Sandwich Dome of 16F with wind chill about 0F. Map: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/jennings-peak-and-sandwich-mountain-trail-loop.
We will not be able to access the office on Thursday/Friday because of the holidays, although we can assist you with accessing the office on Saturday if needed. Please make sure you have a plan to acquire winter boots, microspikes, snowshoes, and an appropriately sized backpack and layers before you sign up for the trip. We are requiring snowshoes since there will be significant snow on Thursday.
We'll hike at a pace on the fast side of moderate. Please be an experienced winter hiker with a strong physical fitness to account for the faster pace. We'll leave Cambridge at 7am. If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile to show this.
