Top Rope Ice climbing, Lead Belaying, Winter Hiking.

This Monday, join us climbing in one of the most popular multipitch ice venues in New England: Mt. Willard! We'll be planning on heading up one of the classics, Cinema Gully, but depending on conditions and the climbing team we may change our game plan on the fly! There are a lot of options for climbing on Mt. Willard including some that top out, while others may require rappelling the mountain. A short approach and easy trail from the summit will mean we'll spend most of the day in technical terrain. We'll also discuss ice anchors and some of the intricacies of alpine climbing.

This trip is suitable for people who have been on Top Rope ice climbing trips first and have experience hiking with crampons in the winter. This could also be a first ice climb if you're an experienced winter hiker/mountaineer who's completed steep, icy trails in crampons. You should also have experience lead belaying (we may take one participant who has not lead belayed). Some experience rappelling is required; more experience is a plus.
