Come enjoy the forest and mountain and get out for a day hike!
What
Chocorua is a short mountain with a curious treeline. It's also known for being a beautiful hike on the 52 with a view list.
We'll stop at the Miss Wakefield Diner on the way up to get breakfast. Dinner stop on the way home will be up to the group :-).
Where
Mt. Chocorua is a little more than 2 hours north, close to Conway. See driving directions here.
When
Sunday October 20th. We will be aiming to get there early before the parking fills up.
Weather
The weather looks pretty good at present (pretty good skies, above freezing temps and not too cold, dry in the run up to the day of our hike), but we'll keep an eye on it.
A reasonable proxy for weather in the white mountains.
A point forecast for Chocorua specifically.
And the mountain forecast weather prediction for Chocorua.
Who
A bunch of MITOCers!
Why
It's good to get out of the city and touch grass (and rock, and tree)!
Way (route)
I'm running out of W words here.
The way, or route, is to be finalized, but is probably a loop as such. About 8 miles and 2500 feet of gain round trip. The ascent is pretty steady, and doesn't spend much time above 20% grade.
If the group is all strong hikers, or at least everyone wants a bit more than the above, we may try a slightly more challenging ascent (although only a little more challenging).
Mandatory pre-trip meeting
Thursday night at 9pm (after the BOD meeting).
