- Attendance of mandatory 2024 Winter School lectures. Winter hiking experience. Physical condition for a hike of this length and elevation gain.
Join us on a hike Saturday to the 4000-footer from which you can see the most other 4000-footers (43 out of 48, tied with Mt. Washington)! The summit has an observation tower with a 360-degree view from right in the middle of the Whites!
Route: 14.6 mi, 4000 ft. gain. (The difficulty rating is Advanced, but only because of the length, which is also the reason we've saved it for the winter weekend with the longest days!)
We will leave Cambridge very early so that we can hike at a comfortable pace. We'll stop for a quick breakfast along the way.
Mandatory in-person pre-trip meeting Thursday, March 14, 6:30pm in the MIT Student Center.
Participants will share car costs (about $140/car). If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, please edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile to show this.
