Prerequisites
One winter hike of comparable length and elevation (at least 9 miles and 3000') either this winter or last. At least one previous above treeline hike in similar cold/wind (e.g. subzero windchill).

We are planning to traverse from Monroe to Eisenhower to Pierce along the beautiful (and exposed) ridgeline connecting the three southern Presis. This is a >9.5 mile hike with 3.5k vert. We'll plan to hike up the Ammonoosuc "Ammo" Ravine trail to the AMC Lake of the Clouds Hut and head south along the ridge. We will descend via Crawford path. We will be above tree-line for an extended period of time (~3.5 miles!) and the weather is predicted to be cold and windy, so you will need reliable above treeline layers and full-face covering.

This is a steep hike, it will be cold (think 10deg high) and windy, and we may encounter unpredictable weather, so strong physical fitness and efficient movement in above treeline terrain will be important. Crampons, ice axe, full face cover with ski goggles, and maybe snowshoes (tbd) are required.

The pretrip meeting will be before the Thursday Winter School lecture (so ~6pm but exact time tbd).
