THE DETAILS

Calling all minxes, sprites, & scamps! Join us for an 'impish' 'loop' hike up N. Imp Trail this Saturday, taking in the beautiful views of the Presidential range from Imp Face, then romping along the Carter-Moriah/Appalachian Trail across Middle & South Carters (North only if time allows) before descending via Carter Dome & Nineteen Mile Brook Trail to parking at Rte 16. We will leave a car at this lot before the hike so that we can get drivers back to the starting lot (1.5miles away) & come back to pick everyone up before heading home.

REQUIREMENTS

This is a difficult hike with over ~10miles and ~3700' of elevation gain. Middle (4610') & South Carter (4430') are 4000-footers. You MUST be in good physical fitness to handle the mileage & elevation gain! Microspikes required. Be prepared for stream-crossings & depending on trail conditions, we may need to bring snowshoes & do some trail-breaking.

There will be an early morning start from Cambridge ~4am! There may be some hiking in the dark (after sunset/5pm).

COSTS

Please budget for the following expenses: $5 trip fee, $30-50 carpooling costs, possible gear rentals and eventual food you buy along the way.

DRIVERS

We will need drivers for this trip. Please update your car status if you can drive others. If not, please select "not driving" or "will drive self". You must be prepared to rent a car if you have selected "willing to rent." (MIT provides discounted car rental to affiliates, and we'll evenly split rental/gas costs). There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting at the MITOC Office at 6pm on Thursday

FINAL NOTE

We reserve the right to select participants based on previous experience. Being selected in the lottery does not guarantee a place on this trip. Thank you for your understanding and please email us with any questions.
