Rappelling (abseiling if you are fancy) is a fundamental skill for rock climbers. In most areas other than the most developed, you have to rappel to get off routes and even sometimes to get on them. Rappelling is also the most frequent cause of climber death. When your mind and body are tired and it's pitch black after you thrutched your way up 25 pitches of off-width chimney, you want to have a solid command of this skill so that you can get back to base camp safely and brag about that part where you clenched your butt for a hip jam. Please only sign up for this event if you are in School of Rock or have previously been approved to join this course.

We'll be learning and practicing this skill, as well as getting some urban climbing in on the graffitied rock of Quincy Quarries in south Boston. It's a special crag.
