Let's get outside and explore Boston's FREE ice skating scene with a trip to the Kelly Outdoor Rink in Jamaica Plain! Practice your skating skills and dressing warmly for the cold, while hanging out with other MITOCers.

Date and Time: Friday night 5:30 - 7:15ish. We will plan to meet at the rink at 5:30pm and skate until they kick us off at 7:15pm (or earlier if we all get cold or bored). We can decide to get hot chocolate or tacos at Chilacates afterwards.

Getting there: Kelly Rink is conveniently located behind the Stony Brook stop on the Orange Line. There is also a free parking lot if you choose to drive there. https://maps.app.goo.gl/3oNhjNMo98Rso17p9

Skates: You can rent ice skates there for only $3, or bring your own if you have them.

Gear: It will be cold so make sure you wear warm layers that you can easily move in/bend your knees in. Even though this is a local trip, it still means NO JEANS. Also, make sure you wear thick gloves or mittens to protect your hands. This rink does not have concessions so bring snacks or a thermos to keep you going.

Prerequisites: None! All levels of skating experience are welcome. We are not skating instructors, but are happy to give tips if you ask for them (although they may not be super helpful) and would love to hear yours!

Meeting: TBD. We will probably have a brief Zoom check-in at a time that does not compete with the Thursday meetings.
