This is the 3rd lecture of Winter School 2024!

This lecture will take place on campus in room 6-120 from 7pm to 9pm.

Guest Lecturer: Francis Tarasiewicz

Why is Mt. Washington called the "Home of the World's Worst Weather?" Come learn about the unique life and work of the weather observers stationed on Mt. Washington and why, for a mountain its size, Mt Washington hosts some of the worst weather on Earth.

This program is presented by Francis Tarasiewicz, an Education Observer and Meteorologist for Mount Washington Observatory (MWOBS). Francis is currently an observer atop Mt. Washington and has experienced everything from record-breaking cold and snow to historic summer time rains on the summit. Francis got his degree in meteorology at Northern Vermont University and is currently working towards a Master's degree in Applied Meteorology at Plymouth State. Francis formerly worked at the New Hampshire Dept. of Emergency Management as a Hazard Mitigation Specialist.
