You always carry a map and compass on a Winter School trip… but do you know how to use it for navigation?

Orienteering is the sport of navigating from point to point using only a compass and a topographic map. We’re going to go to the Middlesex Fells, hike around, and have some fun doing some orienteering and/or following compass bearings. Exact details TBD but be ready to hike about 3-5 miles with possible bushwhacking.

A mandatory in-person pre-trip meeting will be held at 6pm on Thursday, January 18 on the 4th floor of the Student Center (near the MITOC office).
