We will go to ... somewhere ... and climb the ice there!
This trip is an introduction to steep ice climbing. Ideally, this is not your first ice climbing experience, but it is ok if you don't have any experience. If not, you should have a background in rock climbing to draw on. Experience with mountaineering using the frontpoints of crampons and swinging ice axes would be useful.
We might climb at Echo, which is an ~0 minute walk from where you park. Or we might climb at Avalon, in which case, the ice is not even on a trail. To get there, we will walk for ~1 mile on a trail and ~1.5 miles not on a trail. TBD based on weather!
Saturday will be super cold and ice climbing involves minimum 50% standing around belaying, so having your cold-weather kit dialed is a necessity.
