Do you love skiing and would like to explore what's beyond the resorts?
Come join us and learn safely how to "earn your turns" in the backcountry! Due to a lack of snow in the backcountry, we'll be learning the basics of skitouring / backcountry skiing in a resort. We'll be headed to Ragged Mountain in NH https://www.raggedmountainresort.com - a safe place to learn and practice the basics of backcountry skiing. With can rip up and down the slopes as many times as our legs and lungs hold up, practicing everything from preparation, to skinning up, switching from uphill to downhill mode, and skiing down. Let's make sure to do our snow dances to get some fresh snow, so in the next weekends we can practice our skills in the actual backcountry!
Trip Cost
There is a flat fee of $20 for all Winter School Ski Trips (this includes rental of MITOC ski gear if needed). In addition, all participants must purchase a $10 uphill ticket at Ragged Mountain. If you are not driving, be prepared to reimburse your driver for gas and wear & tear.
There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting and gear pick-up on Thursday at 5.30pm at the MITOC office.
