Channel your inner holiday spirit by helping us prepare for Winter School 2024 as we host a holiday party, clothing drive, and White Elephant Gift Exchange!

Please join us in the MITOC office 4th floor at the Stratton Student Center (https://maps.app.goo.gl/eEtimBzd6gFPuhHP7) on Wednesday, December 13, at 6:00 p.m. to celebrate the return of snow, ice, friends, food, and being warm inside and out.

Please sign up here for a headcount for food and participation in the White Elephant Gift Exchange. Adorning yourself in a festive holiday sweater or other kitschy apparel is encouraged but not required!

Building off last year's success, the MITOC gear office will continue to offer a selection of hard shells and some soft-selected soft goods that folks can rent out as part of our gear fleet this winter. The goal is to make those hidden costs of accessing the outdoors less difficult.

To help, we are collecting gently used:

• Hardshells - pants and jackets
• Winter Gloves - Heavy duty please, no liners
• Puffies - Of good quality, still warm, synthetic or down

We will also have a free box for folks to donate their good-quality baselayers. This includes fleece jackets, wool socks, liner gloves, hats, scarves, etc. Please wash all goods before donating!!

Finally, we are excited to tack on another element of the holiday spirit by launching our White Elephant Gift Exchange activity!

A White Elephant Gift Exchange is a popular party game in the US typically celebrated during the holiday season where amusing and impractical gifts are exchanged during festivities. Each participant supplies one wrapped gift (usually of similar value) to the party and every person takes a turn in either unwrapping a new gift or stealing from someone else's. To learn how to play, I recommend watching Season 2, Episode 10 of The Office.

Gifts should not exceed a maximum value of $20. Creativity and chaos are encouraged for this activity. If you are interested, please confirm your participation in the sign-up below.
