tl;dr: afternoon running/social trip to Middlesex Fells, where we'll play a game of zombie tag! Run for ~ 1 hour and then hang out and eat some pizza.

Zombie Tag

Zombie Tag

We'll stick to a small constrained area of the Fells (bounded on all sides by roads). One person will start out as patient zero. Everyone they tag will also become a zombie, and run around and infect others.

Zombies should stick to groups of at least 3 people (zombies tend to stick together, after all; this way, it'll be more social as well). Humans are welcome to stick together or run solo.

Everyone will be required to stay on the trails (no bushwhacking to avoid zombies; if you get caught on a trail in between two zombies, too bad for you).

We'll have a group chat set up for coordination, and we'll play tag until everyone is a zombie, or until we hit our time limit of 1 hour.

Logistics

We'll leave MIT at 2:45pm, meet at the Greenwood Park parking lot parking lot at 3:00pm, and start running around 3:15pm. Once everyone is a zombie (or we reach our time limit of 1 hour), we'll β€œtake the cure" (eat pizza)!

Fees: there are no fees associated with this trip β€” pizza is on MITOC! Sign-ups are required so we know how much food to get.

Transportation: use this rideshare spreadsheet if you can provide a ride or you need a ride. There is also Uber/Lyft, public transportation, and you could also bike and/or run. If you're providing your own transportation, please put your name down on the 2nd sheet.

Required gear:

  • Cell phone, with Google Maps (or other trail maps), so you can navigate back to the starting point at the end of the run

Prerequisites: None!

More on MITOC trail running

We organize trail runs nearly every week, but we only announce major events (like this one!) to the full MITOC list. If you're interested in MITOC trail running events in general, please join the mitoc-mountainrunning mailing list to hear announcements of all of our runs!

If you're on Strava, you can join the MITOC Trail Runners group.

If you're interested in sharing rides to local trail runs, join this Messenger group chat.

Capacity and waitlist

If the trip fills up and you're a current MIT student, please add yourself to the waitlist; we'll probably be able to expand the trip size to accommodate you.
