Join us on a day hike up Mt. Jefferson in the Presidential Range, via a challenging trail! The Castle Ravine Trail is a Terrifying 25 elective, because it has many stream crossings and a steep and strenuous climb up loose talus. The summit area is all above treeline, with superb views (if it's not in the clouds). After reaching the summit, we'll descend via Emerald Bluff, a viewpoint on the rim of the ravine we just hiked through.
Route: 10.8 miles, 4250 ft. elevation gain. Map.
We'll leave Cambridge around 4-5am so that we can hike at a comfortable pace. And we'll stop for breakfast along the way.
We'll have a short pre-trip meeting on zoom Thursday, October 26 at 7:00pm to finalize plans.
If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile to show this.

- Notes
1) Do you have hiking boots or trail runners? 2) If you have enjoyed a hike recently, describe it (length and elevation gain, if you remember them). 3) Do you enjoy stream crossings? (There is only one right answer!)
