Come up Mt Monadnock! After Fuji, this is the 2nd most climbed mountain in the world! https://newengland.com/travel/new-hampshire/monadnock-most-climbed/ We will be starting from Monadnock State Park and taking the Lost Farms trail on the way up and the White Cross trail on the way down. The entire loop is 4.6 miles and approx 1800 ft up. Even though this is a short route, it involves a bunch of high-grade sections comparable to the White Mountains (1000' in 1 mile or less) and some scrambling! The summit is a plateau with plenty of space to enjoy scenic views and have a picnic. Bring some extra food to make a friend. :) Mt. Monadnock summit is exposed to wind and cold, so we will be layering up.
We plan to leave Cambridge around 7 AM on Saturday September 30. We will be sharing the cost of a Monadnock State Park parking pass ($16 per vehicle) as well as gas/driving costs. We’ll have a mandatory pre-trip meeting on zoom Thursday September 28 at 6:30 pm.
If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile.
