Description
We'll go up Hi-Cannon trail to summit Cannon Mtn! If time permits and if the group is hiking at a good pace, then we'll traverse along Kinsman Ridge to summit the two Kinsmans after a bunch of PUDS (pointless ups and downs) over the Cannon balls, and visit Lonesome lake on the way down. It'll be a fun day in varying forest biomes!
IF INCLEMENT WEATHER: If there is a possibility of afternoon thunderstorms on the day of hike, we will plan to run a trip to North and South Kinsman, skipping Cannon Mountain since it is too exposed, and start hiking earlier in the day so we will be below treeline and at lower elevation at time of weather change.
Itinerary
Trail map. The route is 11 miles long, with 4700 feet of elevation gain. Lots of moderate to high grade hiking with a couple genuinely steep sections.
Weather
North Kinsman summit forecast. We will hike even if it rains but likely cancel in case of severe storms and/or likelihood of thunder. We may run a trip elsewhere where it is safe depending on interest.
Mandatory pre-trip meeting
Wednesday evening (time TBD).
Other
If you have questions about the hike, feel free to email the trip leaders!

- Notes
- What have you hiked recently that is comparable? (please list mileage and elevation gain)? It's ok if this is a step up in difficulty. If you haven't been hiking this season, what is your fitness routine?
- What are your dietary restrictions?
- Are you able to drive up Friday night and camp or would you rather go early Saturday morning?
