Prerequisites
Hiking boots or trail runners (running sneakers are NOT ok). Physical condition for a hike of this length and elevation gain.

Join a hike on Mt. Madison in the Northern Presidentials of NH! Madison Gulf Trail, one of the Terrifying 25 trails, is the most difficult route up Mt. Madison, with steep tricky scrambling up from the Great Gulf up the headwall. You will definitely need your hands for this one! Near the summit we'll pass by scenic Star Lake and stop at Madison Spring Hut for snacks/restroom. We'll descend via Osgood Trail, which has glorious views along a ridge above treeline.

Route: 12.3 mi, 4100 ft. gain (map). We'll leave Cambridge very early so that we can hike at a comfortable pace. And we'll stop for breakfast at a nice bakery along the way.

We'll have a short pre-trip meeting on zoom Thursday, August 10 at 5:30pm to finalize plans. Weather may force us to move the hike to Sunday or to modify or cancel it.

If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the lottery preferences on your MITOC profile to show this.
