Purpose: Fun! Climbing! Meeting new people! Hanging out at the campfire! There will be NO official climbing trips - this is an event for self-sufficient climbers to hang out, climb, introduce folks to MITOC, recruit climbing leaders, and provide opportunities for informal mentorship.

Trip date: Saturday Aug 12 - Sunday Aug 13. You can plan to arrive to Camelot Friday night or drive up with your car directly to climb Saturday morning. Most people will probably leave after climbing on Sunday.

Climbing Groups: You should be able to independently find and evaluate climbing partners. You should self-organize your climbing partners. However: you can fill out this form to be matched into a pair / group of 4 on Saturday. (We will let you know the week before the event who you have been matched with so you can coordinate gear/rides.) If you need a mentor to take you climbing (ie you are not self-sufficient), you must make your own arrangements with a mentor before you can sign up.

Location: MITOC’s Camelot cabin is a 15-min drive from sport climbing at Rumney. There are other nearby crags (e.g. less than an hour to Franconia Notch). Further location logistics will be provided in pre-trip email after signups close. Expect to camp (i.e. in a tent) for the night.

Shared Meals: There will be a group dinner together in the cabin on Saturday night and breakfast in the cabin on Sunday morning. MITOC relies on volunteer power, so everyone partaking will be responsible to either help cook, or help clean. If you’re excited to be a principal cook (please someone!!), and/or bring groceries, please email the leaders. Lunch is on you.

Cost: The cost of this trip is ~$20 (for group dinner Saturday night, breakfast Sunday morning, and Camelot cabin fee). Passengers also typically pay their drivers ~$20-30 for the trip up and back; drivers will ask you to pay them directly.

Deadlines:

• Sign-up on this trip page by 7pm on Tuesday Aug 8th (when the lottery runs). If you do not sign up by then, we cannot guarantee there will be food for you! You’ll receive a logistics email on Wednesday Aug 9th confirming your spot on this trip, prompting you to pay, and with a rideshare. Please make sure when signing up that your car information on the website is correct - it helps us determine number of spots.
