Whether you are looking to try outdoor climbing for the first time or are a regular at Rumney, this is the trip for you! Come gain some positive karma by helping out with a trail work day at Rumney. As repayment for your physical labor, we'll be running an official climbing trip the other day, open to any experience level (only requirement is that you can top-rope belay). We'll camp at Camelot, the MITOC cabin near Rumney, on Saturday night.

The schedule is likely:

  • Saturday morning: carpool up to Rumney
  • Saturday: climb!
  • Saturday night: hang out & camp at Camelot
  • Sunday: trail work
  • Sunday late afternoon: drive home

However, if there's enough interest, we may:

  • Add a trail work day Saturday (you could go home Saturday night, or stay at Camelot with us + do your own thing Sunday)
  • Add both a trail work day Saturday + another official climbing trip Sunday (if enough climbing leaders sign up)

so please fill out the notes to help us figure out if either of these are an option. Leaders: if you sign up as a leader (please do!) it will be helpful if you answer the questions in notes too. :)

We will coordinate carpooling in a rideshare, and can optionally coordinate a group dinner (Camelot has electricity & stoves but no running water).

Rumney is an amazing resource for Boston-area climbers -- let's do our part in keeping it sustainable!

Note: There is no official cost associated with this trip, as we are doing volunteer work. However, drivers are still using gas and putting wear and tear on their cars, so please still expect to pay drivers if you are getting a ride. This can be up to ~$30-40 roundtrip, depending on the driver/car/passengers - if this is a barrier to you joining, please reach out to Kathy.

Notes
  1. Do you want to go on the official climbing trip on Sunday?
  2. If there are no spots on the official climbing trip left, are you interested in just doing a day of trail work? (this answer will not affect whether you get in on the initial lottery)
  3. Can you TR belay?
  4. What is your climbing experience?
