Prerequisites
Hiking boots or trail runners. Physical condition for a hike of this length and elevation gain.

[EDIT: Because of weather, we're going to Needham Town Forest instead.]

Join us on a hike to Mt. Chocorua via a less-travelled route, via Carter Ledge Trail (one of the Terrifying 25 trails) and Brook Trail (one of the Terrifying 25 electives)! The summit is one of the most famous in the White Mountains, because it's a big flat rock with 360-degree views!

Carter Ledge Trail is on the Terrifying 25 list because it has a very short section on a ledge sloping towards a drop-off (OK with shoes with proper traction), but most of the trail is not exposed and has great views of the surroundings along the way. Brook Trail involves one long steep slab. If the trails are going to be wet, we'll choose a different route.

Route: 8.7 miles and 2900 ft. elevation gain (map). We'll leave Cambridge early Sunday morning so that we can hike at a comfortable pace. Shoes with proper traction are essential for this trip - no sneakers!

We will have a short pre-trip meeting on zoom Thursday, June 22 at 9pm.

If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the “Lottery preferences” on your MITOC profile to show this.
