Join Jolien and I for a bouldering trip to Lincoln Woods this Sunday!

Lincoln Woods is a bouldering area in Rhode Island located an hour south of Boston with hundreds of boulder problems ranging from V0 to V13. It has particularly many Northeast classics from V2 to V4.

The rock is a featured granite which forms many holds, leading to boulders that are on average more straightforward and gym-like than other Northeast granite bouldering areas, though there are still plenty of holdless aretes and slabs for those who enjoy defying the laws of physics.

Check out the mountainproject page and find a problem that speaks to you!

We will be getting there around 10am and will spend most of a day, so plan according. Bring climbing shoes, chalk, water, and food for the day.

A note on grades: Although outdoor boulders of any given grade are not necessarily harder than indoor boulders of that grade, they often use different skills that are not trained in the gym. So if you send V6 in the gym, you may find both outdoor V4s that you can flash and outdoor V0s that you can't do a single move on. For having fun on this trip, it is less important that you climb any specific grade inside and more important that you enjoy trying to figure out boulders that are hard for you and can fall safely.
