We will be heading up north to Crescent Ridge glade to backcountry ski!
Important Info:
For those that are new to backcountry skiing you may not realize the following:
You will not get to “warm up on a green” and may have to start off on black-level (steeper) terrain. Conditions are unknown and objective hazards (exposed rocks, bushes, etc.) may make runs narrower or more difficult than slope indicates. For instance, you may have to navigate a slope that has exposed rocks because of low snow coverage. Skinning up is equal in difficulty to a strenuous hike (i.e. a continuously steep uphill climb) with the extra weight of skis on your feet, so good fitness is important.
Trail Info:
This is an advanced ski trip through a gladed tree area. The skin track to the top of the glades is about 3 miles long with hundreds of feet of elevation gain. There are 5 trails down the mountain with varying difficulties. We have the option to lap the upper sections of the glade before making our way down to the parking lot.
For more information on the glade, see the Granite Backcountry Alliance

- Notes
- Will you be renting skis from MITOC? If you know what size you'd like please add it, or if not add your height.
- How many days of skiing have you done in the past two years? Any backcountry?
- Rate your comfort with skiing the equivalent of Black mogul and black glade (tree run) at a resort (1 = not comfortable/haven't done, 2 = a little uncomfortable, 3 = somewhat comfortable, 4 = comfortable)
- Are sushi toasts?
