We will head to the Green Woodlands Foundation in Dorchester, NH for a day of cross-country skiing. Our planned trip is about 10 miles of skiing on groomed trails with modest ups and downs totaling about a thousand feet. The trails are mostly easy punctuated by occasional intermediate sections.
Due to the extreme cold weather forecast for Saturday, this trip is restricted to people who have previous winter hiking experience. We also recommend previous cross-country skiing experience, since these will not be good conditions in which to stop skiing and figure out ski or boot issues.
You will need to bring cross-country skis with you from Boston, as rentals are not available at Green Woodlands. MITOC has a number of rental skis and boots available, but sizes may be limited. Our pre-trip meeting will be Thursday night at 6pm and you can rent equipment from MITOC at that time.
Plan to depart Boston at 6am on Saturday morning (perhaps 5:45am depending on drivers' preferences). The trails are about 2.5 hours away and we will finish skiing by 4pm.
If the trip is full and you would like to attend, please sign up for the waiting list. We will evaluate on Wednesday night whether we may be able to expand the trip.
