- Prerequisites
- At least 1 Winter School hike, Strong winter fundamentals, Comfortable with traction
We're going to take a run up Mt Moosilauke, taking the Ravine Road and Gorge Brook Trail - about 10 miles and 2850ft elevation round-trip. The last stretch and summit are above treeline with possibility for strong, cold winds. If the weather is bad, we will turn around.
Since this is an above treeline trip, everyone will need to have been on at least one previous Winter School hike and be very comfortable managing layers, have your packing and systems down, and be able to fully cover all skin.
To make the best shot at reaching the summit, we are going to start early. Plan to be at the trailhead and ready to hike at 7:30AM Sunday. There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Thursday at 9PM after lecture.
