Prerequisites
Some hiking experience, love for dogs

We will be hiking up to Mt. Pemigewasset (3.7 mi; ~1200 ft elevation gain) where there is an open vantage point of the valley.

We will practice layering, traction, and any other skills that are of interest to participants. Current forecast is temp. In the mid-20s, 10 mi winds, and a slight chance of snow. We will aim to wrap the trip up in early afternoon before more snow arrives in the area.

We will be taking along Paxi (Cotopaxi) who is also learning to hike! Paxi is a 8-mo old beautiful Aussie Shepherd who is the size of a full-grown dog, but doesn’t quite yet know how to dog yet. He trips over himself, doesn’t know the correct etiquette for greeting humans and thinks we all love wet paw-prints all over our jackets, and will probably try to lick you right in the face. However he also always comes when called, never strays more than 10 ft from the group, uses his intuitive sheep-herding skills to keep everyone together, and we really enjoy hiking with him. We always bring a dog-backpack to carry him for any back-up scenarios.

This is a relatively easy and short trip to the White Mountains, suitable for anyone with decent fitness who can hike 3 miles and is interested in furthering their winter adventure skills. Much love and patience for derpy puppies will be advised and appreciated.

Pre-trip meeting will be Thursday after WS lecture.
