Fellow crewmates,

We'll get the spaceship out on Sunday to head to the lunar landscapes of the Presidential Range, in order to attempt the complex mission of summiting Mt Monroe and Mt Washington.

The expedition will be directed by Maroon Asha, Orange Florian and Orange Bjorn. We'll do our best to avoid any asteroids or reactor meltdown, and hope that oxygen levels are not depleted up the mountain. We'll also keep an eye on the behavior of all of you - we don't want any impostor to ruin the ascent. (By the way, is it me or Asha has been acting mad sus' recently?)

Expedition details

Distance: 8.5 miles
Elevation gain: 4200 ft.
Itinerary: We'll go up the Ammonoosuc Ravine Trail for 3.1 miles until we reach the Lake of the Clouds AMC hut. From there, we'll be above treeline and at the mercy of the elements. We'll then attempt to summit Monroe as a short out-and-back (0.8 miles round-trip). Depending on conditions and stoke of the crew, we'll decide whether we attempt to summit Mt Washington (1.5 miles to the summit), or turn around. If we summit, we'll go down the Cog Railway path.

Requirements

Previous winter above treeline hiking experience, ideally with MITOC, is required. We will be above treeline for over 3 miles, so you need to have your layering and face covering dialed in.

Since the hike will be strenuous, experience with a hike of similar difficulty (in any season) is also required.

Logistics

Details will be communicated to participants via email once they're selected for the mission. A mandatory pre-trip meeting will take place near the MITOC office on Thursday at 9pm.
