Join us on an Epic Overnight Adventure to the Kinsmans!

We will be heading up to Kinsman Pond to camp overnight and tag North (and maybe South) Kinsman before heading down. We will start Saturday morning and return to Boston Sunday afternoon. The route will take us 3.5mi out with 2200ft elevation gain, then 500ft up the following day and 4-5mi back down.

We will practice working with winter-rated stoves, camp cooking, melting snow and water management, managing temperature while stationary, and hopefully building quinzee snow shelters (snow permitting - we will also have tents). We will hopefully also buttsled on the way down, and can practice other winter skills if folks are interested!

As an overnight, there is increased risk, and everyone must be really solid with layering and managing their temperature, as well as all the basic winter hiking skills and managing the triangle of happiness. Everyone participating will also need to contribute toward hauling group camping gear, setting up camp, and cooking. Join us if you're excited for fun, but also some work.

As a prerequisite, everyone on this trip must have some camping experience and some winter hiking experience (preferably on WS trips in recent years). If you are unsure whether you meet these prereqs or if this is the right trip for you, please email the tripleaders and we'll be glad to chat with you.

Notes
  1. Do you have any dietary restrictions or other considerations for group meals?
  2. Are you comfortable managing your layers and temperature both while hiking and while stationary for extended periods?
  3. Are you a dog person, or a cat person? (there is a right answer)
