- Good physical fitness; comfortable hiking on steep rocky trails
On Saturday, we'll climb Mount Monadnock (3160'), a ~4 mi (roundtrip) / 1700ft elevation gain mountain located in southern NH. Monadnock is such an awesome mountain that it competes with Mt Fuji (Japan) as the most climbed mountain in the world. It's a great hike for multiple reasons:
1) Relatively short drive from Boston: 1.5h (vs 2.5h for the Whites) 2) Great view at the top (up to 70mi) 3) Relatively short hike
Come join us and see what all the hype is about.
Keep in mind that Monadnock is steep and rocky near the summit. It will be particularly icy this weekend, which will give us the opportunity to practice using crampons or microspikes.
