Join Chen and Yitong this Saturday to summit Mount Wachusett in a beginner friendly hike with 360-degree views and an easy start time! This trip will be a great opportunity to practice winter hiking fundamentals (layering/de-layering, microspikes, butt sliding?)
Details
The trail is an hour drive from Boston and the hike will be relatively short and sweet (around 2 and a half hours at a comfortable pace) so we will plan to strike out not-too-early at 9am. The trail (AllTrails link) promises to be a 4.9 mile loop with 1150ft of elevation and a bit of rock scramble at the beginning. Snow is forecasted for Friday so with fingers crossed we'll enjoy a wonderful white terrain; that also means to be best prepared everyone will need to bring microspikes which can be rented from MITOC. Finally (from Chen's recommendation) there's a tasty Korean restaurant (Arisu) on the way back if we're in the mood for bibimbap 👀.
Logistics
Mandatory pre-trip meeting: Thursday, January 19 at 6:30pm outside the MITOC office (W20-461).
Because neither Chen nor Yitong has access to a car, greater preference than usual will be given to participants who are willing to drive (but if no cars we can also rent!)
