We'll be kicking off Winter School by heading into New Hampshire's awesome White Mountains for a 9-ish mile hike that will summit both of the Hancocks, two bona fide 4,000-footers.

The route is a loop featuring 2,600ft of elevation gain, with a steep grade and some scrambling over the last mile. We'll be following the Hancock trail, which starts from the side of the Kancamagus Highway, detailed here https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/new-hampshire/hancock-trail.

We expect snowy and potentially icy terrain, traction will be a required, most likely both microspikes and crampons.

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting after the safety lecture on Thursday evening, and you'll be able to rent gear then. More information to follow after the lottery. Get stoked!
