Join us on this nice hike just an hour's drive from Boston. Wachusett Mountain is 2000' above sea level (1000' prominence) and features 360-degree views of the surrounding area. If the weather is clear, you'll be able to see Boston from the summit.
We'll take a meandering route that'll take us through the meadows, by a pond, through pine forests, down some steeper rocky terrain, and more. We'll pick the exact route based on participants' preferences; we're aiming for something 5-7 miles and 1000' of gain (example route).
We will hike at a comfortable pace. As long as you're in decent shape to walk/hike, this could be a good introductory hike, or a good introduction to hiking in cooler weather! Experienced hikers are also welcome.
Prerequisites
There are no formal prerequisites to this hike. You should have hiking boots and warm clothes. If you do not have experience hiking in cooler weather (~ 40°F), please email the trip leaders so we can go over what clothes you should wear.
Logistics
There will be a pre-trip meeting on Zoom on Saturday at 6:00pm.
The hike is conveniently close to Boston, and it'll be relatively short, so we will not have to wake up early! We plan to leave Boston at 9am.
If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, please edit the "Lottery preferences" in your profile to reflect this.
