Looking for a chance to get your Moat-er running this weekend? Interested in seeing a Moat without an alligator? Join us on a hike through the Moat Mountains of the White Mountains and enjoy the 360 degree views!
North Moat Mountain is said to be the mountain in the 52-with-a-view list that is tied for the best view of all 52! South Moat is another of the 52-with-a-view. The reason that they have such great views is that the entire ridge was burned over in the 1850s and never fully grew back.
This is a difficult hike with (~10 miles, 3000' elevation gain) and conditions in shoulder season may be cold and windy. We'll be moving at a moderate pace, so please be confident in your fitness level.
Logistics: We will be leaving from MIT around 5am Sunday morning. We will have a short pre-trip meeting on Thursday 11/10 at 7pm on Zoom.
Reminders: Please update your lottery preferences to indicate whether you have a car or can rent/drive.
