Winter is coming, and that means opportunities for festive and holiday-based physical activities! The Winter Classic 5k Road Race is a festive holiday 5k race that takes place around Central Square and MIT Campus.

Make it a winter stroll or an all-out sprint down Mass Ave. The course is fast and flat so you can get back to the finish line sooner! Festive attire is encouraged but not mandatory. There will also be a post-race party and two drink tickets to exchange for beverages provided by a local brewing company! Depending on how the group feels, we may also consider doing another post-race hangout and social at a local bar, restaurant, etc.

Signing Up: Registration for the Road Race is required beforehand. If you sign up on the website directly, you will need to choose to "add a team" separately. (If you need to submit a password to join the team, it is "camelot!")

Cost: The race is $43 if you sign up by Thursday, December 1 and is $45 on race weekend. The costs include your selection of a knit winter hat or a long sleeve tech shirt. Where: The race will take over at Central Square/Cambridgeport. Before the race, bib pickup, ID check and bag check will be at location TBD on Saturday, December 3rd from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. or Sunday, December 4th (race day) starting at 8:00 a.m.

Before Race: Meet up with the MITOC team at the MITOC office by 9:00 a.m., where we will then walk together to the starting point at Sidney Street x Pacific Street. Before meeting up be sure to get your race bib and have your ID checked. We will most likely leave our belongings/extra layers and use the office as a storage space. You can bring bags to the race but there will be a bag check and it is not recommended that you leave valuables there.

After Race: There will be a post-race party where we can hang out and socialize with one another. The location is TBD but it would be most likely around the same area as the race. Each ticket purchase also contains two drink tickets to exchange for beverages provided by a local brewing company. We will check in with one another on race day and determine a good spot to rally. Folks are welcome to go their own way once the race is completed.

Cancellations: All entries are final and there will be no refunds or deferrals for registrations. However, you can transfer your bib to another person up until packet pick-up hours are over. The person you are transferring the bib to will only have to pay a small $20 transfer fee.
