Celebrate the closing of 2022's three-season hiking through one of the most scenic hikes in the White Mountains!
The Welch-Dickey loop has one of the best views to elevation ratios in NH and is a great introduction to harder summits and trails. We will be going at an easy pace to ensure that everyone has a great time!
Trail Details: The hike is of moderate difficulty, with the trail being around 4.7 miles with an 1850' elevation gain. You can find a link to the route here. Fruit snacks will be provided at the summit.
Prerequisites: To join this trip, you should have some prior experience with easy local hikes (e.g., Blue Hills, Middlesex Fells, etc.) and access to good equipment such as shoes and water. If you don't, please email Mike so we can ensure that this trip will be a good fit for you.
Logistics: It takes about 2 hours to arrive at the trailhead from Cambridge and about 5-6 hours to complete the hike. Obviously, our schedule is dependent on traffic, breaks, and how our group is feeling. We may also elect to grab dinner at the famous Tilt'n Diner on the way back.
There will be a pre-trip meeting on Thursday, October 20, at 6:00 pm at the MITOC office to discuss other logistics (rides, meeting points, departure times, etc.) and to rent out gear if necessary. Please email Mike if you can't make it to the pre-trip meeting.
