Prerequisites
Hiking boots or trail runners with grip (not sneakers). Previous experience with scrambling recommended. Comfortable with heights. Physical condition for a hike of this length and elevation gain.

North and South Baldface are bare rock summits with spectacular views into the Wild River Wilderness and Maine. The White Mountain Guide calls the circuit over these peaks "one of the finest trips in the White Mtns."! The trail is one of the Terrifying 25 trails because of the challenging scrambling up steep rock slabs. We'll also make a small detour to Eagle Crag, the top of a cliff with its own views.

If you have a fear of heights, do not sign up for this hike!

Route: 10 miles, 3650 ft. elevation gain, https://caltopo.com/m/DFF9U

There will be a pre-trip meeting Thursday September 8 at 7pm on Zoom.

The plan would be to leave Cambridge very early to allow plenty of time. We'll hike at a comfortable pace.

If you can drive your own car or are willing to drive a rental car, edit the “Lottery preferences” on your MITOC profile to show this.

Notes
  1. Do you have proper hiking boots or trail runners?
  2. Give an example of a hike you have done recently (length and elevation gain, if you remember them).
  3. What kind of exercise do you get regularly?
  4. A change in the weather forecast might force us to move the trip to Sat Sept 10. Which of Sat Sept 10 and Sun Sept 11 are possible for you (maybe both)?
