At this first TRS, we'll cover belay checks, basic knots, trad gear, and an overview of rappelling which we'll practice on the first weekend trip.

Where and When
Where: Meet at Room 50-340 We will start out in 50-340 and spill over into the bouldering wall for skills practice.
When: 7pm-9pm
Gear
If you already own any of the following gear please bring it. Leaders will have extras of some of these things if you don't have your own yet:
- harness
- cordelette (to practice tying knots)
- nylon sling or PAS
- tubular belay device (e.g. ATC or similar)
- locking carabiner
- prusik loop
Office Hours/Renting Gear Reminder
Please note that both Week 1 Trad TRS sessions will NOT take place in the MITOC office. If you need to rent gear for this weekend's trip, please plan to go to office hours on Tuesday at 6 PM (before the TRS). Remember that you must have a harness, helmet, climbing shoes, and a belay device and locking carabiner to participate this weekend. MITOC rents all of this gear if you need it.
