Mt. Liberty is a 4000-footer towards the southern end of Franconia Ridge, with dramatic 360-degree views from its rocky summit eastward across the Pemigewasset Wilderness to the Bonds and Presidential Range, and westward across Franconia Notch to the Kinsman Ridge. Our route will be the Liberty Springs Trail, with a little shortcut along a bushwhack at the beginning.
Our starting point will be the Basin parking lot on Rt. 93 North (east side), which is only about two hours north of Boston, straight up Rt. 93. We plan to leave Cambridge Saturday at 7:15am (or 6:45am for those who want to stop for a quick breakfast at the Dunkin' in Lincoln, NH), and expect to be back at Camelot well before dinner.
The hike is about 6.6 miles, with 3050 ft. elevation gain. Route: https://caltopo.com/m/VT96S
