Join Andrew and Yunting for a back-country, cross-country skiing + hiking trip at Hancock Notch this Sunday!
We will arrive at the trailhead at 10 am and plan to be back in the parking lot by 4:30 pm at the latest. There will be 6 miles skiing + 2.5 miles hiking. The weather forecast is in the high 20s, moderately snowy, with ~35 mph wind.
Route: caltopo.com/m/97FDD.
Educational objectives: Practice a trip with multiple modes of transit and gain experience using cross-country skis on a narrow, ungroomed trail.
Prerequisites: 1) Prior xc ski experience: we’ll be skiing on a narrow hiking trail with a slight incline/decline so it’s important that you’re able to ski in control 2) Prior winter hiking experience OR attendance at winter school 2022 lectures so long as you have also have XC skiing experience
We will be having an optional pre-trip meeting in the MITOC office from 6-7 on Thursday, March 3. At that meeting, you'll have the opportunity to rent XC skis and other gear.
Lottery: We will run a lottery for this trip Wednesday morning at 9 am.
