Excited to get outside in winter? Excited about chocolate? So are we!

Join us for a day up Cannon and tick off one of your 4k footers while enjoying a tasty winter beverage! Cannon is a classic and popular 4k footer with beautiful views.

We'll aim to summit Cannon via Lonesome Lake Trail. This hike is ~6.2 miles long (round trip) with 2500 feet of elevation gain. At the top, we'll swing by the ski resort for our first round hot chocolate as a reward for the climb. On our way back, we’ll stop around Lonesome Lake and practice using stoves to whip up hot chocolate round 2! Comparison of tasting notes is encouraged.

Microspikes and winter boots are required (both can be rented from MITOC at low cost). We may also require snowshoes due to forecasted snow on Saturday; this will be discussed at the pre-trip meeting on Thursday evening.

This hike is moderately difficult. You should have a few moderately long three season hikes under your belt.

The forecast on Sunday is very cold so proper layering and hydration will be important!
