Prerequisites
Being excited about hiking for a bit more than 4 hours on a rough, narrow trail with rocks and roots

Just South of the White Mountains, there's a branched lake called Squam Lake, and it's surrounded by woods that are becoming more and more colorful in the fall. North of Squam Lake, there's a mountain ridge that includes Mt Morgan, Percival, Squam, and Doublehead. Our plan is to hike along this ridge and to enjoy the views of the lake and the forest. Just below Mt Morgan, the trail uses a fun ladder followed by a short tunnel through rocks, but there's also an alternative trail to bypass that part. We will use two cars, so that we can do the shuttling before and after the hike that allows us to do an A-to-B hike rather than out-and-back.

The hike is about 6.2mi (10km) and 2200ft (670m) of elevation gain. Without counting breaks, the duration will probably be about 4 hours or a little more. We're planning on going at a comfortable pace throughout the hike.

Here's a map of the hike: https://caltopo.com/m/49D2E

Note: If you're googling these mountains, make sure to pick the right one, as there are two mountains in New Hampshire named Doublehead. Ours is the one next to a town called Sandwich.

We're planning to leave Boston on Sunday at 7 am and start driving back before sunset.

There will be a required pre-trip meeting on Thursday 14th at 8:30 pm via zoom (link will follow).
