Weird desire to do pointless challenges

A while ago, Alejandro came up with the idea for a challenge: run up all the stairs on MIT main campus. We're defining "Main Campus" for this challenge as every public MIT building enclosed by Memorial Drive, Mass Ave, Vassar st, Main st, and Ames st. This excludes buildings 62 and 64, the East Campus dorm. I'm calling this the MIT Stairetissima. Eventually I want to do it all as a single challenge, but since that's a LOT of stairs and thus a lot of time, I think we'll start by trying to collectively run every staircase as a group.

We'll meet on Thursday at 1830 on the outside steps of Lobby 10, go over rules, form pairs/groups and divy up buildings, and then scatter. We'll time how long it takes us to do it, and meet back up at the end. I would like everyone to actually mark where the staircases are, so we know how many different stairs we climbed and where they are (beta for next time!). Strava won't know you went up stairs, so I think the best way to do this is either put pins on a shared Google Map or draw X's on a paper map of campus. I'm open to suggestions! ( and that goes for every part of this)

Rules:

  1. Eligible staircases must be publicly accessible and span 3 or more floors
  2. You must climb from the lowest accessible floor to the highest accessible floor for it to count

Here’s a map of the tunnels with the locations of stairs along the tunnels, it covers a lot of them. There are definitely more that aren’t on the map that just don’t border the tunnels. If you want to do some research you can also use floorplans found here: https://floorplans.mit.edu/searchPDF.asp
