Are you a skier or boarder and Interested in learning how to backcountry ski? This is the trip for you. We'll go over use of AT skis and skins and some basic technique. We're going to Pat's Peak in Henniker, NH. Pat's Peak is a ski resort so we'll be inbounds and have access to the heated lodge. Pat's is 770' vert and ~1.5 miles per lap (but we'll be able to tailor the vert to the group).
You should know how to ski or board and know how to hike in the winter (manage layers, food, etc.). Skinning up is equal in difficulty to a strenuous hike (i.e. a continuously steep uphill climb) with the extra weight of skis on your feet, so good fitness is important.
Update: Uphill travel at Pats is free! MITOC bc ski trip price is $20 with rentals or $5 without.
