We [3 human leaders + Kiva (coD k9 leader)]will slide on in to the Thirteen Falls tentsite via Lincoln Woods trail and Franconia Brook trail. We'll hike in with the option to XC ski and pull our gear on sleds, given the (relatively) chill elevation gain. The trail is approximately 8.2 miles each way, with about 1,000 feet of elevation gain. Bonus points if you can pull a sled better than Kiva the husky. (You don't have to share a tent with her.)
This trip is recommended for participants with winter hiking and 3-season camping experience. You need to be able to manage your own layers, set up camp efficiently, and work well with others.
We'll need to get an EARLY start Saturday, leaving Cambridge around 4-5:00am.
Note: staying warm while hiking is NOT the same thing as staying warm while sitting around. Bring appropriate layers. You will need a large (>/= 50 L pack) to carry gear.
