TRS: Avalanche Rescue Skill Refresher

Leaders
Steph Plant
Type
Backcountry skiing
Trip date
Wednesday, January 29th, 2020
Difficulty rating
Easy
Prerequisites
have traveled in avalanche terrain wearing a transceiver (beacon), previous practice (formal or informal) with transceiver (beacon)

This technical review session is for intermediate to advanced backcountry mountain users who would like to practice their avalanche rescue skills. This is NOT an introduction to avalanche safety or rescue.

Like many wilderness emergency response skills, avalanche rescue skills are perishable, and should be practiced frequently to increase efficiency should an accident occur.

Come to campus (exact location TBD) at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 29 to gather and practice transceiver (beacon) searches and (snow piles willing) probe and shovel rescue skills.

Please bring a transceiver (beacon) if you have one/can borrow one.
