Excited to get outside in winter? So are we!
We'll be heading up to the summit of Cannon mountain via the Lonesome lake trail. This hike is ~6.2 miles long (round trip) with 2500 feet of elevation gain. On the way down we will loop around Lonesome lake, stopping at the AMC hut for hot chocolate. Microspikes and winter boots are required (both can be rented from MITOC at low cost).
This hike is moderately difficult. You should have a few moderately long three season hikes under your belt.
Note on the weather: Sunday is expected to be wintry mix, which is a mix of freezing rain and snow. These can be some of the toughest conditions to hike in. Take this into account while deciding whether or not to join this trip.

There will be a mandatory pre-trip meeting this Thursday after the lecture. Winter boots and microspikes are required (both can be rented from MITOC). Plan to leave Cambridge early on Sunday.
