9.5 Miles, 3000 ft
We'll be hiking up the beautiful yet less popular Mt. Moriah. The trip is between 9 and 10 miles and approximately 3000 ft of gain. If possible, we'll hike the Stony Brook Trail up which goes over a series of exposed granite ledges, offering incredible views of the Carter and Moriah range as well as short tastes of above treeline conditions. We'll take the Carter-Moriah Trail down which also offers excellent views of the Presidential Range and the nearby town of Gorham NH. The trip can be hiked from either direction, a final decision will be made by the Thursday pre-trip meeting.
The peak of the mountain is exposed and proves incredible views in nearly all directions.
You will need standard winter hiking gear, microspikes, and possibly snowshoes depending on snowfall leading up to Sunday. The trail can be steep / strenuous at times and will require the ability to cover everything if the weather necessitates it.
