- Layers of warm clothing (including hat and mittens/gloves), water (2-3 liters), lunch or snacks, sunscreen, sunglasses, hiking boots, day pack.
Bag four White Mountain peaks, three of which are 4000-footers, with dramatic views into the Pemigewasset Wilderness and Crawford Notch!
Starting and ending at the AMC Highland Center in Crawford Notch, we'll follow the Avalon, A-Z, Mt. Tom Spur, and Willey Range Trails to reach the peaks of Mts. Tom, Field, Willey, and Avalon. The plan is to drive up from Boston/Cambridge, leaving at around 6am Saturday, get breakfast along the way, hike at a moderate pace during the day, and drive back Saturday evening.
Logistics (rides, meeting point, etc.) will be arranged at a pre-hike meeting on Friday, October 4, 7pm in MIT room 2-243 (Building 2, at 182 Memorial Dr., Cambridge) https://whereis.mit.edu/?go=2
Hike length: 10 miles.
Elevation gain: 3600 ft.
Hiking time: 7 hours.
