Want to spend a few hours Sunday hiking an interesting rocky trail without having to drive hours to get to the hike?
We'll be going around the Rock Circuit Trail in Middlesex Fells Reservation, a trail whose idea of fun is to seek out large rocks protruding from the ground and intentionally go up and over each of them, even when it would be easy to go around! From the tops of some rocks we'll get nice views of Boston, and there is also an option for a short side-trip to Spot Pond, the largest pond in the Fells. This is a hike, not a climb requiring equipment, but it will involve a lot of scrambling, so get ready to use your hands!
Meeting time: Sunday, September 8, 11:00am.
Meeting point: Just outside the Oak Grove T Station (Orange Line) in Malden, at the bike racks on Washington St. just north of the station entrance.
How to get there: Take the T, or drive (about 7 miles from MIT).
Hike length: 5 miles.
Hiking time: 3-4 hours.
End point: Same as meeting point.
What to bring: Water (2 liters would be more than enough), lunch or snacks, sunscreen, sun hat, hiking boots or something equally sturdy.
